RESTAURANTE THE ORIENTAL GARDEN

THE ORIENTAL GARDEN

The Oriental Garden was a proposal for a restaurant which served Chinese cusine. The client required a space with possiblity of flexibility to serve different groups of clients at the same time. The idea was to create a space that would be minimalistic new age with hints of asian inspiration. This was achived by introducing small details in terms of colour and interior details like the chinese door and the feng shui fish.

There is a waiting area decorated heavily with chinese lamps for customers who are waiting to be seated in front of the entry. This space also serves as a take away counter. As soon as you enter inside the door you are in the area with the bar counter and two seater tables. This is the informal area of the restaurants where people can come have a quick bite or a drink.

There is a glassed planter box that seperates the formal and the informal area. This planter box also brings natural light into the space. The introduction of the big tables gives the client the flexibility to host large groups of people or seat people in a «Common Table». Beyond the formal dining area there is a private room for guests having a private dinner. The walls are adornded with illustrations of fishes and flowers in a pond adding humour and giving the user a feeling of sitting in an oriental garden. The light boxes above the common table and the bar have plants on top which adds to the garden theme. The colour palate choosen for this theme was subtle pastle greens, browns and whites.
